Cyber World Project
Community First is committed to empowering individuals through our Four-Pronged Digital Literacy Approach, helping people connect safely, easily, and confidently to the digital ecosystem. We have identified that many individuals struggle with online safety, particularly in managing their finances, often due to fear and a lack of trust. As businesses and financial services increasingly move online, those without the necessary skills are at risk of falling behind.
Our project will focus on four key areas:
1. Online Financial Management in Partnership with NatWest Bank: This is a critical yet under-addressed aspect of digital literacy. With online and mobile banking scams on the rise, people need to recognise genuine communications. By supporting those who feel vulnerable, particularly with limited in-person banking due to recent restrictions, we aim to build confidence and capability.
2. Safety and Security for Young People, the Elderly and residents: As more use mobile devices in their daily lives, it’s vital they understand how to protect their personal information and the potential risks of sharing data online. Our programme will educate them on maintaining
their online security.
3. Cyber-Bullying/Cyber Safety in Partnership with Wolverhampton City Council: This is a major problem even more prevalent in today’s society, it’s very important young people understand how to protect themselves online and can feel safe.
4. Support for Vulnerable Individuals: Mobile devices can serve as a lifeline for those in coercive or abusive situations, offering a discreet way to connect with support networks. We aim to provide vulnerable individuals with the tools and knowledge to stay safe and access help online.
